The Institute
offers a wide range of advisory and analytical services which relate to all
aspects of spirit production, from raw materials to bottled product. Analytical services exist to support core
research work, act as a resource for member companies and relevant third
parties, and provide effective support for troubleshooting activities.
 To aid the
provision of high quality, efficient analytical work, the Analytical Services
Group was created at the Institute. This
team performs well documented and validated methods, for the determination of
apparent and actual strength measurements, major volatile congeners, cask
extractives and a wide range of other regulated or process important
analytes. New analytical techniques are
continually being assessed to keep abreast of the latest technology.
To ensure data of
the highest standard the laboratory has UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation
Service) certification, giving independent confirmation of the quality of its
analytical work.
