Quality assurance
and efficiency at the bottling and packaging stage is just as vital as any
other part of the manufacturing process. The Institute provides a forum for representatives of its member
companies to discuss these areas at a pre-competitive level and thus enable the
sharing of information. The emphasis is
on the practical problem solving of issues relevant to the whole bottling
sector. As well as providing
administrative backing, the Institute provides technical support in this area,
for example, in determining the nature of off-notes derived from packaging.
Examples of issues
discussed under the bottling umbrella are the technical specifications of
glass, capping, critical defects in bottles and product contamination.
