Our Team
Our scientists have a wide range of backgrounds and expertise, predominantly in biological and chemical sciences. Many are qualified to PhD or Masters level, have industry-related qualifications (e.g. Diploma in Distilling) and collectively decades of experience working alongside the whisky industry. We also have a number of non-scientific staff, who play an essential role in the efficient running of our business.
Our teams works closely with our Board of Directors, all representatives from member companies, to agree the research strategy. Our current chairman is Stuart Watts of William Grant & Sons and our vice-chair is Graeme Sweenie of Edrington. Our programme of research is directed and steered by our Research Management Committee, comprised of technical experts from across our member companies.
